There was a staff meeting on Monday, and among other things we discussed the results of the
Meeting Location Poll. Right now, it's looking like it's going to be in the UK, leaving me to organise it. We're now officially starting the first stage of planning for this event.
Right now, the only place I've found suitable is
Loch Lomond. It is close to both Edinburgh and Glasgow (Two International Airports), making it easy to get to for a lot of people. I am also a little bit familiar with the area as I've been there before, although many years ago. It's a very beautiful part of Scotland, and there are a number of activities within the area so we shouldn't be short of anything to do.
I'm not sure on the time of year yet, originally I was planning on May (start of the "warm" season), however I didn't take things like school holidays into account so right now I've put July in the thread title, however I can see about organising it any weekend over May/June/July. The issue with doing it after May is the Midges come out to play, which most of you will find really irritating.
Also, the location isn't final (if anyone has any other suggestions, PLEASE let me know), as many of the places I've checked so far have been pretty expensive. I've checked how much it'll cost for flights from a number of countries by booking one month in advance:
- Dublin: 10Euro
- Germany: 32Euro
- Finland: 50Euro
- Hungary: 15,000HUF
- Latvia: 40LVL
As in the last thread, I need to know who is interested in coming up. Please post in this thread or PM me if you can come.
Let me know when in May/June/July 2010 suits you most, we'll be doing it over a weekend. If you are in the UK and can drive, or live elsewhere and can rent/bring a car, please let me know as that's something we'll be running short of.
