Hey guys I've started skinning and moddling again, however my .dds conveter is not working correctly. I believe it's a settings issue, which I corrected along time ago and forgot how to do.
anyway here is the issues:
I'm using .DDS converter 2.1 from http://eliteforce2.filefront.com/file/DDS_Converter;29412
k so I've extracted a dds file with the XCC mixer, I convert it with the converter to a png file and edit it with paint. After that I convert it back to dds with the converter and it says its susscesful. When I go back in game though, the character is all black. Any ideas?

This isn't really my area, but wasn't there something with deleting the map's .thu file after making changes? That may be in My Documents/Renegade/Client/... with TT.

What file are you trying to convert?

I meant the name of the skin file and why are you using a converter program. Can't you just use photoshop or paint.net.

I'm modifying the skin files, ex. c_gdi_hotwire.dds, or c_nod_shipcaptian.dds. idk I used to be able to create skins and stuff before I got a new computer but for some reason the programs I used don't seem to work right anymore :/
I don't have photoshop (costs $) and paint.net loaded gimp which coverts everything but .dds

I don't think you install paint.net. Download here http://www.dotpdn.com/files/Paint.NET.3.5.10.Install.zip.
You can simpy open up the .dds file and edit it and save it again as .dds.
