Title: The Video Game Music Thread
Post by: Slyfox on January 31, 2012, 05:44:30 am
Hey everyone!
I thought I'd make a thread that anyone could contribute to, and seeing as all of us are gamers, this will be an easy one to fill. Basically, link us some video game music that you enjoy!
Now, I'm afraid there has to be guidelines, for everyone's sake.
1. Keep your first post with music updated with every new song you add. No one wants to search the pages for a song they would like to hear.
2. Don't flood this thread with a hundred songs per day. People might like to listen to some music, but not all day long, especially when it might be music they don't enjoy. Limit it to one or two songs every day, it's much more manageable for us, and it will help keep this thread alive.
So, once you've listened to some of it, please comment on it and such. I sure will. Oh, and describe your song too. Have fun!
P.S. Maybe I'll do another music thread, for whatever you like to listen to.

Here is my music section, updated with every new song I add.
1. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia: An Empty Tome - Arranged
I like this song sooooo much. It has a great theme, really catchy. It just sounds hopeful, happy, and a tad sad to me. I'm a fan of the Castlevania series, which is known to have great music, and this is no exception. In the game, you've been progressing through a ton of dark and depressing environments, fighting the undead, going through hardships, and near the end, you hear this. That sums it up for me.

Alright, those were some "interesting" choices (I'm looking at you, EWD ;)) I liked Hell March 2 and especially Go Down.
And the overworld theme from A Link to the Past, I love it! When I first played that game, I had no idea what to do next, so for about a year I just going about the land. That theme never grows old.

Wow Gwyn, I'm surprised a rather small game like that had awesome music. (Found out it was random, but I listened to Blue Dragon - The Seal is Broken)
Lavakill, any themes in particular you like? Makes it easier for all of us. Although, I've been listening to it, and so far, pretty catchy. Very fun.

Any particular themes I like? Well, not really, just anything that sounds good.

Alright, here's my next one.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Bastila Shan's Theme
The songs in KotOR don't have official names, but I guess this one is sort of relevant.
Now, when I listen to this, I feel at peace, and sad too. This is actually my favorite song from the game, makes me want to live in the Star Wars universe. Also, kudos to Jeremy Soule, the composer, because there is a well known Star Wars theme in it, surrounded by his own composition. It fits together very nicely.

Song number 3.
File Select (sometimes known as the fairy theme)
Man, I'm a sucker for sad(ish) songs. This one is quite beautiful, and it's been in every Zelda since A Link to the Past. To me, this song is The Legend of Zelda, not the overworld theme we all know so well.
On another note, why aren't you guys posting more music? Surely it's not that hard. Common, it's fun to listen to other people's music.

Song number 4. Metroid Prime: Main Title Theme.
I've never heard, besides maybe Zelda, a menu theme that makes you want to play the game all the more. Great theme. Tired, so not much of an explanation.
Annnnnnnd... WHY AREN'T YOU GUYS POSTING MOAR MUSIC!?!?

Song #5 A track from Half-Life 2
It plays in a very intense section of the game, when you fight on the rooftops of City 17 and there are a ton of Striders everywhere. Man, I hope Kelly Bailey returns for Half-Life 2: Episode 3. He makes great music.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: Fyrus
Probably one of the best boss themes in the entire Zelda series, though we heard in too early in the game. Would have been better if used as a last boss battle or something.

DNA Warrior - C64.
This one makes my spine shiver and almost induces vinegar strokes. Or something.
