Title: Some Ren / Hardware questions
Post by: LeeumDee on March 02, 2009, 09:07:26 am
My monitors refresh rate is maximum 60hz, well at least afaik.
So, will disabling Vsync in Renegade, push my fps up to 75? or any higher value? Im looking to save that drop when i am capturing video with Xfire.

Because of course, I'd much prefer 45 fps while recording rather than 30. Just because more is better :P Or because my monitor can only support 60, is that all i can get?

When you disable vsync the fps will go higher but it doesn't increase the look of the game since your monitor can only go up till 60.

I dont think it will make any difference with recording tho

That's the thing, the video quality itself is fine to view.

It's just when I am recording, 30 fps is such a drop now. I can't stand watching it like that. Plus with X-Fire, it kinda gitters a little. Maybe Fraps will be better, I'll test public server with vsync off.

It doesn't divide your fps by two,  it just records at a certain framerate and the rest of your system resources is used for the game.
At least thats how fraps works.

My guess is that xfire either wont record at higher FPS, or that your system can't handle faster recording, for ex by limited HDD speed.
