As promised on the
news page, I hereby post info regarding the website move; unlike promised, it took a bit longer than expected. Sorry for that. You will probably only be interested in this topic if you have a BlackIntel FTP account and use it to share files with others or run .php scripts.
DetailedWhen we moved the website from Sep's to Trace's box, we also moved the files and user directories from Sep's host to the BlackIntel dedicated server. Due to this move, we no longer support HTTP access to the user directories (eg.
http://www.blackintel.org/usr/seye/). Instead, the files are accessible through a publicly accessible FTP account (eg.
ftp://ftp.blackintel.org/usr/seye/) that allows reading, but does not allow showing directory listings or changing files. This means that people can access your files if and only if they know the exact URL.
The HTTP URLs now redirect to the corresponding FTP directory location. This means that if you have links or image URLs to something like
http://www.blackintel.org/usr/seye/test.png they will be automatically redirect to
ftp://ftp.blackintel.org/usr/seye/test.png. You do not have to change your URLs to use the new FTP server. More important: we suggest you do not use the FTP URLs directly anywhere, because if something changes we can not redirect from the FTP server to another FTP or HTTP server.
Another thing to note is that you can no longer use serverside executed code, such as .php files. We checked your user directories and found that these were hardly ever used anyway, so we assume this is not a problem. If it is, please contact me.
In short:- Never use
ftp://ftp.blackintel.org/usr/<username>/<filename> directly. Use
http://www.blackintel.org/usr/<username>/<filename> instead. This is the same URL you used before the move.
- You can no longer use dynamic content, such as .php files. They will no longer be executed.
