Interstellar Marines
« on: April 11, 2011, 11:53:59 pm »

Well, as been following this game (title above) for close to a year now. It's an indie game, currently being developed by a Swedish company called Zero Point Software. They have turned down a number of distributors/funding dudes because they would lose to much control over it.

Basically, it's a few dedicated developers who love gaming and want to get something believable, fun and realistic out to the public. This is not going to be Call of Duty or Battlefield type game (did I mention they plan to have it as a trilogy?). The game is using the Unity Engine, which keeps on getting upgraded, and the playable slices are very good looking and well polished.

Now, since they don't have any funding dudes (what's the word for that?), they rely on the player base to get their funding. The team posts a bunch of things that get the players involved every week. I suggest you register, download the unity plug-in, and play the game slices (in the browser -no download for that). Also look at the things they posted, very interesting tidbits on what they are doing.

I might buy the trilogy (pre-order that is), for about 40 dollars (60% off since it's not released). You can also get the first game for about 25 dollars (25% off). Or you could just buy support medals for 5 dollars each.

Man, I just can't talk enough about this! It sounds like I'm selling this game :P! Seriously, they are doing a lot of awesome things, and the short game slices are awesome. I didn't buy anything yet, but I probably will in a couple months.

P.S. The next playable slice is multiplayer. Sweeeeet!

You said euros but it's actually in dollars, the price in euros for the trilogy is about 27 euros.

I watched that video on their homepage and I think I saw a landshark so I'm probably going to get it.

My bad about the money, will fix it. And, yes, landsharks a-plenty!

I would've looked if I got more time. Currently busy enough without playing games that I bought already. I'd like time to play BC2, Homefront and later Brink first...
